THE BEER THAT MADE NOVA SCOTIA (AND ME!) FAMOUS

Posted on by Kemba

logoI noticed it a long time ago.  It was this real cute photo of Matt, as a baby.  He was sitting

outside our house in Vermont, on the deck, alongside a six-pack of beer that was named after him!  The brewery is in Utica, NY. — about 150 miles from the Vermont house.  I thought it was super-cool for Matt to have a beer with his name on it.  I was also super jealous.

Well, last week, Beagle Man came home from leading his writing workshop in Hartford carrying two six-packs.  He said they were a gift from one of his students, who’d spent the summer in Nova Scotia.  Which, as you probably know, is where Duck Tollers like me are from.  I took a look at the beers, and then did a

double-take.  Because these beers are named after me!  Toller Lime!  And Toller Red!  They even have my picture on the can!  (Btw, the Toller Beverage brewery is

in Dartmouth, Nova Scotia — just 30 miles from Ardoise, where I was born.)

I gave the Toller Lime a few licks (you might notice in the photo that one can is missing from that six-pack), and I can’t honestly tell you that I fell in love with it.  But I hear from a lot of people that beer’s an acquired taste.  And I’m not giving up so fast!

Beagle Man always has a lot to say, so I’ll just pipe up in The Duck Dog Speaks whenever I can.
