THE RECRUITER
Beagle Man, in a post a few months back (“A Nova Scotia What???“), wrote that we — he and I, that is — have done our part in the growing popularity of the Duck Toller breed, at least here in Westport. And I’m thinking: Hmm . . . B-Man tends to exaggerate from time to time. Maybe there’s a little of that in his observation.
That was until one day last week. We’re doing our walk along Bradley Street, minding our own business . . . when this

black SUV passes, stops, then backs up. The front window rolls down and the driver says, “Hey! It’s me — Nico!” I’m thinking, Nico . . . Nico . . . Aha! Nico! Lived near Burying Hill Beach, our old stomping grounds! Wife named Robin. Back in the freezing winter of 2014/15, when I was just a tiny puppy and would wake up super early, B-Man would take me to Burying Hill Beach, even if it was before sunrise (hard to believe, given our wake-up hour

these days!), to do my business. And a bunch of times we’d run into this couple, Nico and Robin, who thought I was just the most adorable little dog ever (see “A Salty Dog Story“), and wanted to get one just like me. B-Man gave them all the info about Saltydog Kennels in Nova Scotia, and BOOM! Some six months later, little Griffin arrives in Westport! And we become playmates at Burying Hill Beach!

Now here we are, 10 years down the road. We’ve moved to a different side of town — now we’re near Compo Beach, not Burying Hill Beach. But still, somehow, we run into Nico, who says good old Griffin is still doing great. And, get this: They’re thinking of getting another Toller from Saltydog!
And let’s not forget about little Stella, belonging to B-Man’s friends Randi and Peter, who live on the other side of town. Stella is two-and-a-half, and she’s also from Saltydog — and also because of me! (See “Kemba Lands Another Top Recruit from Canada“)
So that’s potentially three dogs I’ll have brought to Westport. Did someone say “influencer”?
Beagle Man always has a lot to say, so I’ll just pipe up in The Duck Dog Speaks whenever I can.

B-Man exaggerate??! No, can’t be true. But I guess 3 does make a trend.
Yes,an influencer indeed! Time for you own podcast and get out from under the editorial restrictions of the B-Man
Kemba, I do have to admit I had never heard of a Duck Toller before! And (no surprise), I’m certainly never going to forget now. You are seared in my memory at that Winnetka beach forever:) Glad you’ve been upping the population of fellow Duck Tollers in Fairfield County!
Seared in my memory as well!!!
