BIG GAME HUNTING

Posted on by Kemba

logoBeagle Man and Mom got back last Sunday from a safari (whatever that is) to Kenya (wherever that is).  B-Man showed me lots of photos, said he saw some “amazing” animals.  Which begged the question, and I was quick to supply it:  Aren’t an animal?  To which he answered, rather condescendingly, in my opinion: I mean exotic animals.

Oh, excuse me!

He told me he got an up-close look at every animal in Africa’s Big Five — lions, elephants, leopards, rhinos, and African buffaloes.  I reminded him he could see Connecticut’s Big Five — Golden Retrievers, German Shepherds, Yorkshire Terriers, Shih Tzus, and Black Labs — without even leaving Winslow Park.

And what did I get out of this Great African Adventure of his?  Not even a T-shirt!

But I suppose I shouldn’t complain.  As usual, when the parents are away, I had a really fun time with Elise and all her little dogs — Pepper, Debit, and Spare Change.  Plus, I got to wear the headphones and help Frankie out for hours and hours in his recording studio — one of my favorite things!

Still . . . I remember the days, when I was still a pup, when I was Beagle Man’s constant — and only — traveling companion on those cross-country road trips to visit Robby at USC.  B-Man behind the wheel, me riding

shotgun.  Butch Cassidy and the Sundance Kid.  Grand Canyon.  Badlands.  Pacific Coast Highway.  That dog park in Santa Monica.  Those were the days.

Ah, but enough reminiscing.  Here’s something I’d like you to do for me.  In each pair of photos I’ve posted, I’d like you to tell me which animal you think it would be cooler to see.  Then we’ll know if going on safari is such a big deal!

Beagle Man always has a lot to say, so I’ll just pipe up in The Duck Dog Speaks whenever I can.
