Appreciating Ricky the Beagle on what would be his 22nd birthday
Nose to the ground, sending a prayer:
Maybe — just maybe — some food will appear!
I used to be sorry you missed so much fun,
Didn’t have many interests, only that one.
Fetching? Not really. Hiking? Hell, no!
But counter-surfing? You were the ultimate pro.
And I? In the hills? I’ll march to the top,
Long as Beagle Man’s with me, there’s no need to stop.
At the beach? In the summer? I’ll swim for that ball.
Others can try, but I’ll beat them all!
The older I get, though, the more I understand,
That a dropped onion bagel beats “tennis ball a la sand”.
On your birthday, I salute you, and here’s what I find:
I’m playing your sport, and it’s more fun than mine.
Beagle Man always has a lot to say, so I’ll just pipe up in The Duck Dog Speaks whenever I can.
Aww I love it! Never forgotten
Never!
And, let’s not forget: Ricky was the most handsome dog EVER! Looks count for something!
Looks count for a lot!
Mine are reaching that point of crossing over soon. One is 15 one is 16 both mean so much as you’re little forever friend. I will remember this email as I travel through with a heavy heart that wants them to stay forever. They say it’s hard to say goodbye but with hope and love in our souls all things can be done!
Thank you beagle man!
