MY PALS: Ruckus
Of course my first MY PALS column is about Ruckus: He’s more than my pal — he’s my brother.
We do everything together. Everything. If I pee, he’ll pee right over it. Same spot. And vice versa. When we get separated, we’re both really sad. While we’re together, though, we play nonstop. Ruckus always wins tug-of-war. Wrestling, we’re even. In fetch, he may be faster, but I’m smarter. He’ll go for the fakes. Not me. Which is not to say we never have our disagreements. In the beginning, we’d growl at each other while we were eating, but we’ve got that squared away. Now, he waits politely until I finish. I kind of hover behind
him when it’s his turn . . . in case he leaves anything in the bowl. He’s also a ball hog in fetch — he just cannot let go of the ball. It’s pretty irritating — but he’s the Ruckster, so I put up with it. One big difference between us: I love the water. Not Ruckus. When I swim, he just patrols at the water’s edge. Then when I get back to shore, he grabs whatever I fetched. What can you do? That’s Ruckus. Also, I’m fine in all cars, and Ruckus is a nervous Nellie. With one exception: He loves, loves, LOVES to ride with me in Beagle Man’s Jeep (see pic). One thing about Ruckus I envy: He’s got little Baby Ryan in his house. Rucky’s not even that into him, but I find him fascinating. Bottom line, I’m really glad Greg and Kelly moved to Westport. Now I get to see my best buddy all the time.
RICKY THE BEAGLE USED TO HAVE HIS MY PALS COLUMN. I’VE ALWAYS WANTED ONE OF MY OWN. NOW I HAVE IT. 🙂
