Kemba Comes Off the IL; Still On Minutes Restriction
Kemba Walker Herman was cleared yesterday for light fetching-related activities. He’s spent the last two weeks on the Injured List after hyperextending his right front elbow while tumbling tail over teakettle during a vigorous fetching session at Compo Beach on February 24. Team physicians at Winslow Park Animal Hospital reported that “Kemba’s gait looked good” upon his return to action, but they stressed his progress needs to be monitored
carefully over the next few days. According to Kemba’s coach, Hank “Beagle Man” Herman, the Nova Scotia native will be on a minutes restriction during his first few games back. “The NFL (National Fetching League) is a speed league,” Herman said. He added that while his star Duck Toller has been “champing at the bit” to return to competitive action, he needs to be protected from his own instincts. “This was his first injury, so this is new ground for him,” his coach said. “He’s only five-and-a-half. Just hitting his prime. He’s got a lot of good years left in him, and we need to do everything we can to make sure he stays healthy.” Kemba’s teammates are rallying around him, and eager to see him back in action. “We all know what kind of competitor he is,” said Ruckus Harlem Herman. “Dawg can flat out fly. He only knows one speed, and that’s pedal to the metal.”
