Woe Is Me!

ddsYup — still grounded, because of this dumb paw injury.  Beagle Man tells me to be patient, but it’s getting harder and harder.  Here are just a few of the things I’m not allowed to do while I have to wear the stupid bandage on my paw and the stupid cone around my neck: run, jump, fetch, swim at Burying Hill Beach, play with my friends Sadie and Lincoln and Lucca at the dog park, chase squirrels and deer in the yard . . .   And to think, just two months ago I was spending my days splashing around in the ocean out at Montauk.  Man, I miss Montauk!  And Vermont!  Instead, I

get the consolation prize: a trip to the pet hospital in Norwalk every couple of days to get my bandage changed.  I’m not even allowed to go sniff out a good place to pee or poop on my own; I have to take care of that stuff on a leash!  And adding more insult to injury?  What did Beagle Man do on Sunday?  Instead of staying home with me, he drove into New York to watch the Jets game at Greg’s apartment!  He says it’s because Greg’s the only other Jets fan in the family, but so what???  The Jets stink!!!  The way I see it, Beagle Man’s spending too much time with little Ruckus, and not enough time with yours truly!  (Oh, and guess who’s coming to our house for Thanksgiving?!)  Beagle Man says the bandage is coming off soon, and when it does, we’ll go to the beach and the dog park and play fetch more than ever.  I’ll believe it when I see it.

Beagle Man and Ricky always have a lot to say, so I’ll just pipe up in The Duck Dog Speaks whenever I can.
