Weekend at Uncle Marlon’s II
My good, good boy is back after his summer tune-up at Camp Marlon. I
send him there from time to time so that Kemba’s A#1 trainer, Marlon, can re-install the good behaviors —with his loving care, patience, and expertise — that I spend the rest of the year undoing with my lax discipline, lack of follow-through, and general indulgence. Kemba’s major for this session was Counter Surfing Elimination. This is an activity he wasn’t really into during his formative years, but seems to have picked up in the ether from our dear departed Ricky (“Eat-It-If-You-Can-Reach-It”) the Beagle.
The first time I sent Kemba to Marlon’s boot camp (“Kemba Goes to Sleep-away Camp”), I felt awful — like a parent delivering his precious kindergartener to the bus stop on the first day of school. Separation anxiety — big time. (For me, that is.) Now, when I see him bolt out of the car and dash up Marlon’s front steps, tail wagging, without so much as a see-ya-later look, I’m just fine. I know he’s in
good hands, and having a nonstop party/play date. Just have a look at these pics,
and you’ll see what I mean.
Marlon’s a Master Dog Trainer, and his outfit (in Lindenhurst, L.I.) is called K9University. He does not only training, but also boarding and daycare. You can check him out on Facebook at
K9University and on Instagram at @k9u_ny
. He has, without
qualification, the Beagle Man Seal of Approval.
Much as I appreciate what a great job Uncle Marlon does, I’m pretty damn glad my duck dog is home again. And now . . . back to spoiling him!
