Take-Your-Dog-To-School Day

In my most recent post, I wrote about the dogs who crashed my high school reunion two weeks ago. What I neglected to tell you is that just five days later, Kemba crashed the after-school Writing Club I run at Bryant Elementary School in Bridgeport. Okay, so he didn’t exactly crash: The kids have been begging me to bring him in ever since I showed them a youtube

video about Arthur, the stray dog who joined a Swedish race team and refused to be left behind, as a writing prompt last November. (You can have a look at the kids’ writings on our blog, “Hank the Tank and the Legend-Makers.”)
While I thought Kemba might be just a tiny bit of a distraction at our regular weekly sessions, I knew he’d fit right in at our end-of-the-year party (see photos). Still, I brought along my daughter-in-law Kelly — to run interference just in case Kemba showed a little too much interest in the chocolate

cupcakes.
The “graduation” party was a little bitter-sweet for the Beagle Man, since all my sixth-graders will be moving up to different schools next year. The good news is that I’ll be meeting my next crop of young writers in September 🙂 .
LOOK FOR A NEW BEAGLE MAN POST EVERY THURSDAY. OR PRETTY CLOSE TO THURSDAY. COULD BE WEDNESDAY. OR FRIDAY. LET’S NOT GET TOO OBSESSIVE HERE . . . 🙂 OH, AND BTW, YOU CAN ALSO FOLLOW ME ON FACEBOOK AND INSTAGRAM.
