Sit. Stay. Drink.
* * * COUNTDOWN: 31 DAYS TO LA/XC-3 * * *
Okay, it may not be as awesome as Beagle Man’s Dog Bark Park Inn, but here’s the place I really want to go. Which probably means we won’t. Sure, I get to write whatever I want in the Roof Rack Report — but the B-Man is still in the driver’s seat. Anyway, my spot is called The Dog Bar, and it’s in Charlotte, NC, which I just happen to know is right on the road from Atlanta to Chapel Hill — two planned stops on B-Man’s latest itinerary. The Dog Bar’s slogan is “Sit. Stay. Drink.” I know, I know, a little cutesy. But this place seriously rocks. Listen to this: The bar is climate-controlled on the inside, and dogs can mingle off-leash in a fenced-in area. Outside, we can sniff each other in a completely shaded Astroturf patio — with a misting system in the summer and heat in the winter! They play live music, and they specialize in dog birthday parties! What’s not to like?! This tip, btw, comes from Anna, another of Greg’s friends. In her e-mail, she says the bar “smells terrible, cause I don’t think they clean the fake grass, but it’s definitely a happening spot for people with dogs.” Which describes me and Beagle Man to a T: happening! I’m telling you, this place has my initials written all over it. Thanks for looking out for me, Anna. I don’t think we’ve met, but when we do, I won’t even try to steal your lunch.
The Roof Rack Report (#roofrackreport on Twitter, for those who follow me already on @BeagleManHank) appears on Mondays, usually. It’s about politics, travel, food . . . important stuff like that.
