Okay, So That Explains Half the Trip . . .

* * *  COUNTDOWN:  6 DAYS TO LA/XC-3  * * *

RRRI was gonna tell Beagle Man that he left out a pretty important detail from yesterday’s post — how we’re gonna get back from L.A. after delivering the Pathfinder to Robby — but two readers beat me to the punch.  (Thanks, Bill and Mary.  And by the way, I love getting comments — so keep ’em coming :))  One of them wondered if I might be flying back.  Please!  You really think I can fit in one of those under-seat crates for mini-dogs?  Or would let them get away with sticking me in the cargo bin??  No way, Jose!  Actually, after we dump the Pathfinder, we’re going to drive home

in a rental car.  Which strikes me as kind of weird.  For three years and I don’t know how many thousands of words, the B-Man’s been obsessing about whether to drive the Jeep Wrangler or the Acura, then the Audi or the Pathfinder . . . and now we’re going to ride in pretty much anything Hertz feels like handing us?  Ah, there’s no explaining the Beagle Man.  Okay, now that all entries are in for this year’s Guess-the-Total-Mileage Contest (with the volume of response once again causing the internet to crash — thank you, Linda and Mary), I can disclose the projected overnight stops for LA/XC-3:  Mercer, PA; Columbus, OH; St. Louis, MO; Grinnell, IA; North Platte, NE; Glenwood Springs, CO; Bryce Canyon, UT; Lake Meade, NV; Los Angeles, CA; Santa Cruz, CA; San Francisco, CA; Wilcox, AZ; Marfa, TX; Austin, TX; Hope, AR; Nashville, TN; Atlanta, GA; Chapel Hill, NC, and Alexandria, VA.  If you’re a beagle, and you live in one of those towns, let me know and I’ll try to drop in for a visit!

The Roof Rack Report (#roofrackreport on Twitter, for those who follow me already on @BeagleManHank) appears on Mondays, usually.  It’s about politics, travel, food . . . important stuff like that.
