It’s true: Most of my pals are dogs. But not all. I’d like you to meet my new pal, Smokey. Smokey showed up over the weekend at Beagle Man’s friend Mimi’s house in Simsbury. Mimi already has Hooch, a black lab, and Simon, a yellow lab. But she’s a pushover when it comes to animals — she rescued Simon, a cancer survivor, from the pound — so I wouldn’t be surprised if Smokey moves in as a regular at her house as well. Elizabeth, Mimi’s daughter, thinks he’s really cute. So do I. What I especially like about Smokey — and you can see this in the photo — is how he’s going all-out after the peanuts in that bird feeder. That’s my philosophy, exactly: If you see something you want — damn the torpedoes, full speed ahead!
MY PALS WILL BE RIGHT HERE ON MONDAYS. IT’S ABOUT, UH . . . MY PALS. IS YOUR DOG LIKE ME . . . HANDSOME? MIND OF HIS OWN? TELL ME. MAYBE YOUR PUP WILL TURN UP IN “MY PALS.”SEND YOUR STORY AND PHOTO TO BEAGLE MAN . HE HANDLES MY E-MAIL FOR ME.
