You’re not gonna believe this, but last week I overheard Beagle Man and Matt talking about LA/XC-3 — the 2013 cross-country road trip. 2013? Didn’t we just get back? Not that I’m complaining. I could be on the road 365 days a year and be perfectly happy. The thing is, though, I’m not sure I like some of the ideas they were kicking around. For one thing, B-Man was talking about alternating huge, 750-mile days — “mega-mileage days,” he was calling them — with low-mileage days that would be mostly sight-seeing. I like the idea of the mega-miles, but I’m not that thrilled about the sight-seeing part. Too tiring. He also brought up maybe doing the trip in April instead of
September, to get a different “feel” for the country — whatever he means by that. Honestly? I kind of like doing everything exactly the way we did it before. I’m not a huge fan of change. You know, if it ain’t broke . . . Oh, one good thing came up, though. Matt might be coming! How cool would that be! Matt’s a lot of fun. He always plays great games with me. And maybe we wouldn’t have to listen to so much country music. Although . . . Hey, Matt? Uh, you do know I always ride shotgun, right? I mean, I hope that won’t be a problem for you . . .
