LA/XC-6: The Logo

Posted on by Ricky

***COUNTDOWN:  2 DAYS TO LA/XC-6***

rrrHmm . . . I don’t know about this one.  My own logo, for The Roof Rack Report (left), was designed by a pro back in 2012 — and it’s held up pretty good, if I do say so myself.  Matter of fact, just last week we got a big compliment on it from Elise, Kemba’s dog sitter.  And K-Dawg’s logo, for The Duck Dog Speaks?  That one was created by Robby’s friend Colin, also a graphic artist.  (See logo, logo right.)  It debuted in April 2015, with Kemba’s very first post, when he and Beagle Man were on a stopover in Sonora, Texas, during LA/XC-4.  But this new one?  The logo for LA/XC-6?  (Below.)  You guessed it.  This one was done by the B-Man himself.  Take a look at it:  It’s got old-school and low-tech written all over it.  Totally home made.  Very arts & crafts.  I watched him do it:  He actually found what he thought was a cool font for “The Epilogue Trip,” printed it, cut it out of the

copy paper — with scissors!, Scotch-taped it to the rubbery plastic kitchen place mat that Matt, Greg, and Robby learned their states from, photographed it . . . and, voila!  No photo shopping.  No digital design tools.  No graphic enhancement.  Not to mention, you have to be aware of the whole genesis of the series of LA/XC road trips to even get what “The Epilogue Trip” means.  Ah, Beagle Man.  Gotta love him.

The Roof Rack Report used to appear regularly on Mondays. Now it appears once in a blue moon, when Beagle Man deigns to give me some space . . .
