Kemba and Luz and the Tulip
I only heard about all this last week.
Apparently Luz, who most of you know as Robby’s old baby-sitter and patron saint of Ricky, Kemba, and all dogs everywhere, had planted some tulip seeds two, maybe three years ago, in a pot in the kitchen. And waited for it to
flower. And waited. And waited. Tulips, I’ve since learned from Wikipedia, can take a very long time to bloom. Finally, though, in April, while Kemba and I were gallivanting around America, it seems that a flower appeared. One, lone flower. Luz was very happy with that flower.
Shortly after Kemba and I returned from LA/XC-4, he went to examine that flower that Luz had been waiting and waiting and waiting for. First he sniffed it. Then he nudged it. And finally — of course — he ate it.
Fortunately for Kemba, in the world of St. Luz, nothing is ever a dog’s fault. “He was hungry,” she’ll say. Or “He didn’t know any better.” Or “He just has too much energy.”
This time, it was, “He’s a dog. What can you do?” She looked at the flower-less pot. “I’ll just plant another tulip.”

I guess tulips are okay, but you’ve got to be careful with plants, some of them will make Kemba very, very sick and are even, GULP! DEADLY!!!
How is Kemba’s jumping ability? Has he figured out any more great escapes? I know he is keeping your throwing arm in good shape. Hope to see you in the fall.
