He’s Coming Home

rrrLots of fuss and excitement leading up to Beagle Man’s trip to Portland, Maine, this weekend to pick up

obed.
Steve the Breeder says he took Kemba (left) to Puppy Obedience Class, and that he “socialized” very well. Excuse, me — but isn’t he just sleeping?

the little whippersnapper.  The whole household is in an uproar.  A week ago B-Man bought virtually every toy in Choice Pet Supply that was not made in China, as well as pretty much everything else in the store a puppy could possibly want.  (I kinda thought the elk antler chew bone at $27.99 was a little over-the-top — though word has it I was just a little bit pampered, too, in my day.)  Steve the Breeder e-mailed an update a few days ago, which the B-Man promptly forwarded to everyone in the family.  Matt gushed back,  “This is adorable! Can’t wait to meet the little guy!” — and said he’d be coming to Westport on Sunday.  Excuse me — but didn’t Matt already fly all the way up to Nova Scotia to meet him?  And Greg and Kelly are planning to be in Westport Saturday when Beagle Man and

A tiny piece of elk antler? For $27.99? Really?

Kemba make their entrance — and will be staying the entire weekend so they don’t miss a single detail!  Robby — love that kid — tries his best to stay loyal to me:  He watches Kemba on the puppy cam and says his bark is annoying.  But even he — my own blood brother — is caught up in Kemba-mania:  He’s flying in from Los Angeles, for crying out loud!  (Well, he was already planning a visit to Penn State this weekend — and then tacked on a Westport stopover.)  I’ll tell you when this whole thing hit me.  Two days ago B-Man picked up Kemba’s food supply: Medium Puppy Kibble from Royal Canin.  So I guess this dog actually is coming to my house.  It’s real.  Wow.

The Roof Rack Report (#roofrackreport on Twitter, for those who follow me already on @BeagleManHank) appears on Mondays, usually.  Actually, whenever Beagle Man decides to give me some space . .
