Friendliest Dog In the World?
I was just reading an article in my alma mater’s alumni magazine, The Pennsylvania Gazette, about the new Penn Vet Working Dog Center that’s now breeding and training the country’s top detection dogs. The cover line for the article is “Dogs at Work.” Well, I know a working dog, too: He’s currently “employed” at Pure Elegance, the dry cleaner on the Post Road just blocks from my house — and he might just be the nicest, most friendly dog in the world. (Present company, and your dog, excluded, of course. 🙂 )
Stop in at the cleaner and you’ll be greeted by a large 4-year-old Golden, sitting on his chair, paws on the counter, eager look on his face — all but saying, “Can I help you?” If he’s not manning his post, he’ll rush up from behind the counter and greet you — maybe nudge his big bone-pillow in your direction for some fun. But if he gets a little too friendly, just one word from Mike, his “boss,” and he’ll immediately back off. This dog couldn’t be better behaved, more gentle, or more good-natured. Or better looking. Ricky hasn’t met him yet; he generally waits for me in the front seat of the car, snoozing away. But I know they’d get along great.
Oh, and his name is Molson. After the beer.
What’s not to like?

Very cute! Is he on the payroll? If not, he should be. I’d rather talk to a dog than a human any day.
Oh, dear, reminds me of our Golden, “Jasmine.” We said if burglars came to steal, she’d lick them to death.
