What, No Happy Hour for Beagles?
Beagle Man and the Missus spent three days last week in Nashville. Maybe you remember that I’ve been to Nashville a couple of times myself? [September 2011, LA/XC-1, Ricky Storms N-ville;
and September 2013, LA/XC-3, You Never Know Who You’re Gonna Run Into in Nashville] I know the B-Man remembers, because I heard him say, when they were walking from their hotel to The Listening Room, “Hey, here’s the lot where Ricky and I parked on that first trip to Nashville!” And then when they biked up to Vanderbilt, he shouted, “And here’s the Loews where we stayed!” So yeah, I’ve done Nashville. But what I did not get to do was be a guest on the Music Row Happy Hour, broadcast live from Margaritaville, and get interviewed by Buzz Brainard — as B-Man and Mrs. B did last Friday! [Here’s the segment — audio credit Terry Murphy; coughing courtesy of Terry as well :)] Didn’t know this hound dog was so big into country? Think about it: I did three road trips to Cali and back with the Beagle Man, who listens to that stuff 24/7. And one of the first lessons I learned as a young pup was, if you can’t beat ’em, join ’em. So at the end of the Happy Hour interview, Mrs. B gives a few shout-outs — to Ash and Geiger, to Lisa and Joe, to Terry and Patrick. Even to Baby Ryan. Then Beagle Man chimes in, “And let’s not forget our new friends, who we’re sharing a table with — John and Beth.” Yeah, John and Beth, who they’ve known for all of 45 minutes. Did anyone hear a shout-out for the late, great Ricky the Beagle? No, neither did I.
The Roof Rack Report used to appear regularly on Mondays. Now it appears once in a blue moon, when Beagle Man deigns to give me some space . . .

Hey Ricky! Great to hear from you and to have you share your memories from Nashville. While I can appreciate your chagrin over getting left out of one aspect of things to do in Nashville, after listening to that compelling bit of audio you linked us to, can’t say I think you missed a lot. That said….pass along my congratulations to BM and Mrs. BM on their 45th (btw, how many times did that guy say “45th” in that two minute clip?). Of course, my dear wife and I just celebrated our 47th last week, but we got a few more miles on us than they do. One other thing, if you should run into an adorably cute Labradoodle named Betty up there, only about 6 months old, keep an eye out for her, but don’t get any ideas. She’s a real sweetheart who was taken from our family way too early. You’ll love her.
