Kemba, Mom, and Ricky
Somewhere along the line during UConn’s historic and magnificent run through the Big East Tournament and then March Madness, Kemba Walker mentioned Sunday, May 8 as being a very big day for him. It would not only be his 21st birthday — reason enough to go wild — but also the day of his early graduation from UConn.
In our house we had that date circled on our calendar — but not because of Kemba, even though he’s a super-hero to all of us. In the Herman household, May 8 is big because it’s Ricky’s birthday! Hard to believe it was 8 years ago that we brought that adorable, soft, squirmy, brown-black-and-white little puppy back to Westport from his birthplace in Massachusetts.
And if Kemba’s birthday, Kemba’s graduation, and Ricky’s birthday weren’t enough, there’s the biggest cause for celebration of all: Mother’s Day! (Yes, even BEAGLE MAN has to be politically correct sometimes . . .)
So I want to send out a big “Congratulations!” to Kemba on his graduation day. And a hearty “Happy birthday!” to both Kemba and Ricky.
And to Carol, and to my mom, and to my mother-in-law, and to Andrea Walker, and to Chrisette’s the Crumb Snatcher, aka “Cookie” (yes, Ricky’s mom up in Templeton, MA) — Happy, Happy Mother’s Day!
