Not So Fast, Beagle Man
Future Dog!!!??? Are you freakin’ kidding me? The next dog will be here “because of Ricky”? It’ll be “a tribute to Ricky”? Any more nice rationalizations, B-Man? I give up the mortal coil on April 7. The B-Man publishes his “tribute” post on the 13th — earning him tears and hugs all around town, by the
way. I come back to the house in a cutesy little cedar box, complete with my “paw print,” on the 19th. And by the 25th he’s running an American Idol-like contest to see who can pick Ricky’s successor — complete with photos! Sheesh! Isn’t that the Beagle Man all over? Very organized: X weeks for grieving, and then boom! Time to replace. And I see he’s made some stipulations for Future Dog. Can’t be food-obsessed. Can’t be stubborn. Must be trainable. Must run with owner. Well get this, B-Man: I’ve started a list of the upgrades I’m looking for in Future Owner, and it’s getting pret-ty long. Oh, and by the way? Good luck finding another dog who’ll sleep his way three times across America and back! Meanwhile, up here, things are pretty sweet. Sure, I miss Robby and the boys, and Luz . . . but I can eat all I want, sleep all I want, walk where I want and when I want. (Excuse me for just a sec: Brodie, you mind passing me some more venison? Great. Thanks.) Before getting back to my siesta, I want to give a shout-out to faithful blog follower Bill Ryan, who had the foresight to comment that he expected I’d be writing the Roof Rack Report from the Hereafter. Good call, Bill. Yup, I’ll be writing. And I’ll be watching . . .
The Roof Rack Report (#roofrackreport on Twitter, for those who follow me already on @BeagleManHank) appears on Mondays, usually. Actually, whenever Beagle Man decides to give me some space . .

Hahaha! You go Ricky, good dog! We all miss you here, and give Brodie a hug for me.
You tell’em Ricky! 🙂
I do not know what to say, Hank. Other than to “hear” Ricky’s “voice” made this damp cold day, much brighter and warmer. I am sure my family will be beside themselves with pride knowing that I may be the first person on earth to get a shout out on a blog from a dearly departed dog.
