Amazing Example Of Breed Specific Behavior!
Here’s a quiz: What dogs are active, independent, tenacious, and vocal? Another hint: They don’t always get the best grades in “plays well with others.” Terriers, of course! We all know this. Same as we know that setters and retrievers are energetic and friendly — and also maybe a little bit goofy and slow to mature.
But here’s one I bet you didn’t know. All beagles like to climb into open dishwashers and do a little pre-cleaning before you start the wash cycle!
Strange, but true. And I have the evidence to prove it. The screenshot to the right is of a beagle named Griffey. I came upon it in a tweet from a certain Jenny Wiley. (Stand up and take a bow, Jenny!) Don’t know if you can make it out, but she captioned the photo “my chronic unhelper #beagle.”
What blew my mind is that I have almost the exact same photo (left) of you-know-who, when he was just four months old! I swear we didn’t train Ricky to do the dishes for us. It’s just in his beagle genes. Yet another example of what great dogs beagles are!

My ex son-in-law told the following joke. This couple had two friends that showed up just at dinner time for a solid week. Of course, they were invited to stay and share the meal. Finally, the husband got sick of it. The next night, he put the used dishes on the floor, let the dog lick them clean and put them back in the cabinets. The free-loaders never came back.
So you got rid of your son-in-law for telling that joke? 🙂
Nolan the Beagle LOVES licking the dishes in the dishwasher as I load it! He has never tried to climb in though luckily…
