MY PALS: Chester
Look at him up there! Proud . . . alone . . . captain of his fate. I want that to be me! Beagle Man has a kayak — but has he ever taken me out? Nooo! Just because I’m a bit of a wuss about the water, that doesn’t mean I wouldn’t like to go out on a boat, fcol! Btw, that’s my friend Chester, a yellow lab, on the prow of that 20-foot Mako. Chester belongs to Jamie and Jill, and I run into him all the time at Snout Hook. (Beagle Man says I can never tell you the real name is Trout Brook, and I don’t want to get him angry.) But besides hiking in the woods, J&J also take Chester cruising to cool places — like Five Mile River in Rowayton, Scott Cove off Darien — even Northport, L.I.! (Beagle Man’s idea of a destination walk is a drive over to Greenfield Hill Church. Big whoop.) The morning we ran into Chester and Jamie and Jill they had anchored at Southport Harbor and were strolling over to the Driftwood for lunch. Ummm-umm. I’ll bet he gets some pret-ty good stuff to eat there. Ah, some day . . .
MY PALS WILL BE RIGHT HERE ON MONDAYS. IT’S ABOUT, UH . . . MY PALS. IS YOUR DOG LIKE ME . . . HANDSOME? MIND OF HIS OWN? TELL ME. MAYBE YOUR PUP WILL TURN UP IN “MY PALS.” SEND YOUR STORY AND PHOTO TO BEAGLE MAN . HE HANDLES MY E-MAIL FOR ME.

I come home from work tonight unusually late due to a 40% off of sale “happy hour” at Banana… believe me when I say there was nothing “happy” about our evening. I walk in the door at 10pm and Bruce hands me a
fed-ex envelope addressed to me ( sorry I never get one of those) even Bruce was excited to see what was in it. I rip it open thinking there might be a big check written out to me… but even better is a baby picture of Ricky resting his snout on Hanks Jeep steering wheel. I immediately went to find a frame for this beautiful picture… and my daughter quickly reminded me that there is not one picture of our own dog Teddy in a frame, but much worse not even a picture of my own kids in a frame! So as I write… there is now a picture of Teddy, Ricky, Kate, Ryan and Owen sitting on my kitchen Island. BTW if you sent that pic of Ricky to me by accident… sorry you can’t have it back!

That 8×10 glossy was your prize for the winning entry in the “Ricky and the Wrangler” contest (how to do errands with Ricky when we’re in the open Jeep)from my April 24 post. I was so slow in getting this photo to you I’m sure you forgot all about it! This was your winning solution: “Bring a friend, wife or son… so they can watch over ricky while you make your pit stops!! or bring a leash. OR you can take my car and I will take awesome care of your jeep while you are gone!!!” Glad you like the photo — and I’m glad you got the rest of your guys “framed,” as well!
Thank you…. love the picture
